August 30 to Sept 5, Everywhere

So it was the Moore's annual trip to Montana for a fishing extravaganza. We started with Three days on the Yellowstone staying on the river and eating great food. We had a wild game night to die for. And for once the venison outdid the elk. It was back strap versus sirloin.
Next we took a trek up Slough creek...well four of us did. Brian could not make the up and over but had a great day with guide Chris Miller on easier to get to fishing haunts.
Chris, Caleb and Kevin joined me on a epic trek to the second meadow where we enjoyed some great fishing for those big cutties. The rises are so slow that they make me laugh. We all caught some good fish.

Next we spend a day on DePuys spring creek working the puzzle of picky fish. Everyone caught fish and for the second day in a row the hot bug was a size 20 midge cripple...who knew?

And, finally, no Moore trip would be complete without a trip to the Missouri. We only caught a few fish on dries, but we nymphed the bajesus out of them. We are already planning for next year and the Mo will figure prominently.

Caleb with a bruiser.

Spring creek smarty.
Chris fooled a few nice ones. I think he would fish a spring creek every day if he could.

A Slough slab.

After the release.
Nice scenery.. well worth the hike.

And a hike it was. Your typical 17 hour guide day from doorstep to doorstep.

Nate releases Brian's Brown on the Yellowstone. Brian really enjoyed the camping.
Nice Bow.
The boat makes the man. Are those bifocals Mark is wearing?

Another great brown on the Stone.
Bow on a bead in skinny water. Love to see nice fish.
Can you say zebra midge?

Butterscotch brown at the corner.
Memories of last year.

All those brown smears are leaches. Not the high point of the trip. Luckily they stayed below the waist line.
Mellon shirt with trico filler. I can't wait until next year!
